How to install a stone bath

 

Read the Lusso guide on how to fit a bath, helping you to safely and accurately install your new, luxury stone resin bath and all of the other points to consider whilst in the process, including what you need to fit a bath, the people you may need and the do’s and don'ts. Before installation, you should download the technical drawing for the bath you have purchased. You can find this on the product page relating to the bath you have purchased. This will show you the exact dimensions of the bath base, the bath void depth and the location of the bath waste fitting. Please keep in mind that installation does differ depending on whether the floor is wooden or concrete and you should always take measures to ensure that the floor is level before installing your bath.  As a safety precaution before you begin installation, make sure that all water is switched off at the mains. You will need a plumber and at least four people to lift and place the bath into the home.   Equipment you will need:

• Spirit level
• Tape measure
• Screwdriver
• Pencil
• Electric drill
• 2x timber thighs 

You should give a timeframe of two days to fit a freestanding bath. The process may take less time however you should always prepare for any problems you may encounter on the way that could slow down the process. If this is your only washing space, it’s a good idea to make alternative arrangements in the time that your bath is being fitted. 

Each Lusso bath is supplied with a low-profile waste connector and flexible pipes which fits within the void area of the bath and the base of your floor. The end of this pipe measures 40mm. For installation purposes, the pipe pulls out and extends to a length of 850mm. 

  Our bath waste pipes will work with all British Standard bath traps although we do recommend using a HEPVO waterless trap with an inline adapter. These can be purchased from all major plumber centres and DIY stores.    How to install a freestanding bath onto a wooden floor   Step 1 - Mark the footprint of the bath base on the floor and within the footprint, bring the waste pipe through the floor.    Step 2 - Once step 1 is carried out, you should finish your floor covering.    Step 3 - Place 2 lengths of timber at either end of the bath and lift the bath onto the timber so that it is propped up high enough to connect the waste fitting to your trap.    Step 4 - Once you have connected the waste pipe to your trap you need to check the bath for any leaks. To do this, you will need to fill the bath halfway and release the waste.    Step 5 - Once you are satisfied that there are no leaks, you will need to remove the timbers and lower the bath into position. Your bath is now installed.    How to install a freestanding bath onto a concrete floor  Step 1 - Using a 44mm hole saw drill attachment you will need to drill a circular hole in the cavity wall at the base of the bath (the back of the bath). Please note that this does not void your warranty.  Step 2 - Mark the footprint of the bath base on the floor.  Step 3 - With the bath footprint, you need to bring your waste pipe across the floor behind the bath and through the hole you have drilled. Step 4 - Place two lengths of timber at either end of the bath and lift the bath onto the timber so that it is propped up high enough to connect the waste fitting to your trap.  Step 5 - Once you have connected the waste pipe to your trap you will need to check the bath for any leaks. To do this, you will need to fill the bath halfway and release the click clack waste.  Step 6 - Once you are satisfied that there are no leaks you will need to remove the timber and lower the bath into position. • Create a checklist and ensure you have everything you need before beginning the process
• Take care when removing the previous bath and get help from a plumber if the plumbing needs to be rerouted.
• Turn off the water supply before beginning any work.
• Measure out all markings before beginning work.
• Wear safety goggles when drilling 
• Get assistance with lifting and transporting the bath

A: To remove your old bath, we would advise breaking the bath down inside of the property before removing.  Q: How and where do I drill tap holes into my bath? A: Our freestanding baths do not require you to drill tap holes as we offer wall-mounted or floor standing bath taps. Q: How do I know that my bath has been successfully installed?  A: To know if your bath has been fully installed, you can water test this and if the water drains away and there are no signs of water present in any joints or leaks, this means that your bath has been fully and successfully installed.  Q: How do I get the bath through the door?  A: To get your stone bath into the property, we would recommend you to unpackage this outside of the property before turning upside down. Once you have successfully turned the bath upside down, you will be able to hold onto the lip of the bath which will allow you to get it into the property with two people on either side (this needs four people in total).  Q: How fast should the water drain from my bath? A: The water should drain from the bath at 12 litres per minute.  Q: Do I need any extra parts for my bath?  A: We would recommend a 40mm hepvo valve to attach to the bath - this will help with any smells and also the flow rate. Q: Is there a void area under my bath?  A: Yes, our baths come with a void underneath to help with installation. Your installer can place the bath on some wooden beams and will have plenty of room while installing the product.
